Dr. Vinh Mai, MD, Medical Director

Dr. Vinh Mai is a family board-certified physician with 13 years of experience.  He specializes in Emergency medicine with a strong orthopedic background.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at UT Arlington and graduated Summa Cum Laude.  He later went to Medical School at Texas A&M in College Station and graduated with honors.  He completed his residency at UT Health Science Center in Tyler and fell in love with Emergency Medicine where he continues to work today in this field.  In the ER, he gets to meet people from all walks of life and feels that he’s truly making a difference because of care provided 24/7 even on nights, weekends, and holidays.   Loving his trade, he always keeps up with current and best practices in medicine.  Aside from being diligent and prompt in his care and duty, he also believes that medicine is not one size fits all and that patients deserve to know what options are available for them to make a personal decision on their care.  
 
When not working, he spends time with his parents and siblings eating, cooking, baking, or attending concerts or sporting events.  Dr. Mai is proficient in the kitchen. Some of his best dishes are Vietnamese rice crepes (banh cuon), Vietnamese caramelized braised pork (thit kho to), Korean ribs, and various fried rice dishes.  Every Christmas, he and his family will have a family bake together where they will spend 3 days together to bake upwards of 40 Yule logs for friends and family. This 25-year-old tradition still goes on to this day.
